The weather certainly did not cooperate last weekend for the much anticipated and tasty Maple Syrup Weekend and many were not able to go out to enjoy the festivities! Thank you to a special donation from the Knox family of the Irish Maple Sugar House in Shapleigh, all children got a special treat on Monday of vanilla ice cream with topped with real maple syrup. This tasting went along well with our lesson on how to make maple syrup that were completed last week!

Students from Shapleigh Memorial and Alfred Elementary enjoyed a virtual presentation by our Nutrition Department that featured our Harvest of Month; Proteins! They were able to learn fun and nutritional facts regarding local Maine eggs, as well as sample delicious classic deviled eggs made directly in their school kitchen. A huge shoutout to Girard Farm in Waterboro for providing the eggs used in our recipe demonstration and samples!

It is with great excitement and pride that we announce the recipients of the Model Mustang Staff Award for the month of March! This award is a tribute to those outstanding individuals who embody the qualities of a true “Model Mustang”; they inspire, lead, foster positivity, persevere, and excel in all that they do. Each Model Mustang was nominated by colleagues who took the time to acknowledge and celebrate their coworkers’ exceptional contributions to our district. "Transporting kids from kindergarten to graduation isn't just a job; it's a privilege. As the first face students see in the morning, I know I'm setting the stage for their success. Over the years, I’ve gotten to really know the students and their families and those relationships are part of what makes being a bus driver so special.”

Having great healthcare and dental coverage means I can breathe easy knowing I’m covered when I need it. It’s like a safety net that lets me focus on doing what I love without any added stress. Big thumbs up to RSU 57 for looking out for its drivers!
